Things to Check Out in Fayetteville This Year

Happy 2023 from the Allegiance Title team!

The new year is the perfect time to try something new, and Fayetteville has no shortage of opportunities for that. As the second largest city in Arkansas and largest in our region, there’s plenty to experience in the area surrounding the Athens of the Ozarks all year round.

While the summer presents great opportunities for events, festivals and other community gatherings, that doesn’t mean there’s nothing to do when winter transforms the landscape. So, whether you’re a longtime resident looking to deepen your appreciation of the area or planning to move into the area this year, keep reading for our recommendations on four of the best things to check out in Fayetteville.

Wilson Park Historic District

The Wilson Park Historic District, also known as the Rock House Historic District, is home to historic Wilson Park. Located in the city’s center across nearly 23 acres, Fayetteville’s first and oldest park is one of the most popular. It features several landmarks like the Wilson Park Castle, the park’s signature fountain, and several gorgeous gardens..

Botanical Garden of the Ozarks

The Botanical Garden of the Ozarks was originally incorporated in 1994 and later opened to the public in 2007. The 44-acre site is home to six cultivated acres featuring 12 display gardens and the state’s only Butterfly House. Today, the garden is a community destination home to events like the Greening of the Garden Gala, the Firefly Fling, and Chefs in the Garden.

Fayetteville Historic Square

The Fayetteville Historic Square, often referred to as Fayetteville Square or simply The Square, is a small historic district in, you guessed it, downtown Fayetteville. The Old Post Office, built in 1911, is the centerpiece of the neighborhood and one of its biggest landmarks.  The area hosts the Fayetteville Farmers’ Market, the Light of the Ozarks, the First Thursday arts festival, and the Fayetteville Film Fest, held each October.

Northwestern Arkansas Razorback Regional Greenway

The Northwestern Arkansas Razorback Regional Greenway, is a 37.6-mile stretch of largely off-road shared-use trail stretching from Walter Park in Fayetteville to the north of Lake Bella Vista in Bella Vista, Arkansas. It serves thousands of walkers, joggers and cyclists annually, providing a free and healthy way to take in the great outdoors.
